Camperdown Quarter
Residential-Led Development
Community Consultation
Welcome to this consultation website, where you can find the latest information on proposals by Joinery and Timber Furniture Creations (65) Ltd (JTC Furniture) for the delivery of a residential-led development located on the site of the current Camperdown Works factory on Harrison Road.
This website outlines how you can learn more about the proposed development and share your views as part of a comprehensive Pre-Application Consultation (PAC) process, prior to submitting a planning application to Dundee City Council.
A Proposal of Application Notice (Reference - 25/00550/PAN) was submitted to Dundee City Council and other key stakeholders in September 2025 to initiate the PAC process.
The PAC process includes the holding of two in-person public consultation events, with the first of these taking place on Tuesday, 28th October 2025, between 2pm and 7pm at Block 5, Dunsinane Avenue, Dunsinane Industrial Estate, Dundee, DD2 3QN.
Your feedback is important and will be taken into consideration as we develop the scheme, helping to shape the proposals. We look forward to hearing from you.
Site Location
The site, formerly the Timex Factory, is situated within the Dryburgh area, approximately 3.4 kilometres northwest of Dundee City Centre.
It extends to approximately 9.7 hectares and is bounded on its south by Coupar Angus Road/Faraday Street, with Harrison Road to its east, a cluster of business/ light industrial buildings to its north, and a tree buffer on its northwest, with residential properties further to the north.
Securing JTC’s future in Dundee
In April 2024, JTC Furniture was acquired by Woodland Furniture Group, a Northern Ireland-based manufacturer and supplier of kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms, and bespoke furniture solutions.
A review of operations quickly identified that the existing Camperdown Works site was no longer fit for purpose due to its outdated condition and very poor state, and that the cost of redevelopment was not viable.
Several relocation options were considered, including moving operations to Woodland Furniture Group’s headquarters in Northern Ireland. However, WFG/JTC Furniture was determined to retain its skilled Dundee workforce, and a decision was made to remain in the city.
If planning permission is granted, Camperdown Quarter will help with the investment required to relocate JTC Furniture’s long-standing manufacturing facility to Dunsinane Industrial Estate, thereby securing JTC Furniture’s future in Dundee.
Revenue from the proposed Camperdown residential-led development is required as part of the overall business plan.
The company currently employs around 200 staff, with plans to increase the workforce by 20 per cent to approximately 240 in the coming years.
This move to the new factory will bring approximately £7 million worth of inward investment into the city, securing the long-term future of skilled local jobs and with wider knock-on benefits for local services and the supply chain.
Proposed Development
Camperdown Quarter is an exciting new residential-led development on the site of the current Camperdown Works factory, which will be demolished. This will include affordable homes, local shops, and business units.
These much-needed, new energy-efficient homes will help tackle the nationwide housing emergency while securing the future of manufacturing operations in the city.
It is intended that any future master plan for the site will include retaining links to the wider green network, maintaining existing woodland areas, and introducing new planting and landscaping across the site to enhance wildlife habitats and biodiversity.
The heritage of the former Timex Factory will be celebrated through public artwork, delivered in consultation with the local community.
Camperdown Quarter will create a modern, attractive, and connected place where people will love to live.
Have Your Say
The Pre-Application Consultation (PAC) process offers an opportunity for you to provide valuable feedback and suggestions on Camperdown Quarter. This will allow your comments to be considered and further develop the proposals before submitting a planning application to Dundee City Council.
This input is crucial in ensuring that the development meets the needs of both future occupants and the local community.
As part of this process, a first public consultation event will be held on Tuesday, 28th October 2025, between 2pm and 7pm at Block 5, Dunsinane Avenue, Dunsinane Industrial Estate, Dundee, DD2 3QN (car park accessed via Craigowl Street).
At the event, consultation boards displaying early proposals will be available for viewing, and attendees will have the opportunity to provide feedback and comments. The project team will be present to discuss the proposal and answer any questions you may have.
Consultation boards will be accessible on this website from Tuesday, 28th October 2025 and there will be the opportunity to provide comments via this website. Feedback and comments should be received by Friday, 14th November 2025.
A second public consultation event will take place on Tuesday, 25th November 2025, providing updated development proposals. It will consider, adopt and incorporate, where appropriate, feedback from the first public consultation event, along with other stakeholder engagement.
Comments made do not constitute representations to Dundee City Council. An opportunity to make representations to the Council will be available following formal submission of the planning application.
Next Steps
Subject to this consultation exercise and further discussions with Dundee City Council and other stakeholders, it is proposed to submit a planning application in the first quarter of 2026.
This planning application will include supporting information that covers a variety of topics, including design, built heritage, townscape, sustainability, biodiversity, transport, ecology, flooding, drainage, ground conditions and noise.
This website will be updated as the development evolves, considering continuing interest and feedback
